What is an OAT? (Organic Acids Test)
OAT testing requires only a single urine sample and measures the metabolites resulting from metabolism. This information can indicate health status by comparing your metabolic bi-products with those of healthy people. Metabolic bi-products can revel information that blood draws cannot. Blood panels are useful, but they tell us only what is in your blood and not what your body is processing and utilizing. An OAT test shows us what your body is doing with the nutrients you provide to it. An OAT test is best used alongside your other medical test results.

When is an Organic Acids Test helpful?
Organic Acids Tests are useful to diagnose chronic health issues when we are looking for the root cause of a problem
Some individuals want to take an OAT test as a measure of current health or to head off a small problem before it becomes larger.
We learn about many things with the OAT. There are over 60 biomarkers that suggest the status of:
- mitochondrial function
- oxalate level
- fungal and bacterial overgrowth
- neurotransmitter status
- toxic burden
- nutritional profile
- fatty acid metabolism
